Let it never be said that I don't acknowledge good work. In this case, I refer to FUNimation's recent release of Gunslinger Girl on DVD. First of all, allow me to congratulate them on being one of the only anime companies capable of hiring competent people to QC their English scripts, because the subs were nicely readable and free from the typos that plague the industry. The timing of the subs and the other aspects of the disc (video and audio) were also quite nice.

I happened to buy the limited release that came with the box and cloth poster, and while I'm probably not pedo enough to hang the poster up, it was still pretty neat. The box is also top notch; nice and sturdy, unlike some of the other ugly thin shit to come out recently (Narutaru comes to mind).

The only overt problem I could find with the release without looking too hard was the bizarre inconsistency in Henrietta's handler's name between the back of the DVD case (Jose) and the actual subs (Giuse), and even I have to admit that that's nitpicking a little.

In short, I can honestly recommend that you buy this series now that it's available. The fact that they made this a 3 disc release for all 13 eps instead of the 4 disc release that is so common is just another plus to throw onto the pile.
