OK guys, here's the situation: We have an encoder who's busy all the time and we need someone to fill his role!

Now, if you or anyone you know can encode and can do it well, then by all means APPLY! I know you guys want Akagi and Higurashi faster. We have 7 scripts waiting for encode. The faster we get an encoder the faster you'll get new releases.

Requirements for encoder:
- Good knowledge of encoding tools including AVIsynth, vdubmod and Adobe After Effects
- For Adobe After Effects: Be able to produce and integrate onscreens (Check out our Higurashi episode previews for examples; You MUST be able to do this and more!)
- Produce encodes at good quality/Knowledge of filtering and cleaning video
- Tolerate criticism and be prepared to reencode until it's all right (That means being able to stand Labaamen's v21 scripts)
- Familiar with IRC
- Since we do ALL our releases in XViD, be sure you are proficient with this codec!
- TRUSTWORTHY

Re: ENCODERS/DISTRO NEEDED

If you got at least 25KB/s to seed a torrent that's fine. I'm not going to be too strict about distro help.

Re: ENCODERS/DISTRO NEEDED

There's no way a normal and sane person would apply at an adress like "lolimasterkanna". But you probably already know that, amirite?

Re: ENCODERS/DISTRO NEEDED

Either way it'll make it to my inbox. But I'm not concerned about the email address as much as getting a good encoder.

Re: ENCODERS/DISTRO NEEDED

Please note "normal and sane" were not in the requirements listed.

I'd volunteer, but I know next to nothing about encoding. Any tips on where to go to learn? Maybe someday you'll need another one and I'll be up to speed.

Re: ENCODERS/DISTRO NEEDED

Normal and sane people are boring.

That aside, watch some videos from the Total Training series to know the ins and outs of after effects. As for encoding in general, it's a matter of experience. There are guides that will teach you what each slider and dropbox does, but other than generic "good" values you'll have to learn yourself.

Re: ENCODERS NEEDED

Is the After Effects experience REALLY neccesary? I mean, can't the effects be made only with ASSA knowledge? Though they won't be as pretty, but then again, no flashy effects needed, right? <hint: karaoke wise, which I respect and don't find much needed>

Re: ENCODERS NEEDED

We don't abuse the use of after effects. As you see from our releases we only use as much as neccessary for each onscreen. Sometimes the effects are more than Advanced Sub Station (ASS) can handle, or other times because of the size of the onscreen we have to remove the Japanese and overlay it with the English translation. We're not trying to be flashy, just enough to replicate the effect and make it look as if the onscreen was part of the original animation.

For examples of all of the above refer to our Dokuro and Higurashi releases. For those of you who have downloaded our Beyond The Clouds release when it was unlicensed you can look at the onscreens in that instead of Dokuro.

For those who are thinking right now "You fucked up Dokuro with your English covering the Japanese!", feel free to make a thread on the forum and we will happily argue with you about it.

I was actually just thinking that we fucked up Dokuro with our English covering the Japanese, but I don't really feel like making a thread to bitch at Cless again.

Re: ENCODERS/DISTRO NEEDED

doom9.net has a bunch of stuff related to encoding. You'll need quite some time and motivation, because you'll need a lot of experience to perform the job well, and it only comes from tries and mistakes.

Re: ENCODERS NEEDED

uh..... too lazy to proper write an e-amil for ya guys.

if you're still in need of an encoder AND don't mind teachin' me some AF stuff,
I may be of use...

I know all you guy's are asking for an encoder to know, except AF stuff.
And yes, I know how to overlay AF video with the raw file.

Also, if you don't mind I have really crappy ul speed (20Kb/s)

That's all.
