There's a large misconception of what's going on here. The new x264 doesn't have some magical improvement that deserves it's use. The problem here is that the old h264 in libavcodec (which is used in ffdshow, etc) had a BUG. This is also why CoreAVC plays it just fine (because it didn't suffer from said bug). You can go read the commit logs if you're still bawww about this, but that's just all there is to it. The new x264 didn't break some sort of backward compatibility, it just helped expose the bug in the old version used in most people's versions of libavcodec.

Hey Triad, I popped down to Himeji today to check out the live action version of the film today. I don't know quite enough Japanese to grasp it all, but I know enough and your translations certainly helped. The film is basically a summary of the episodes you have out now, plus the later ones with Jack Il Dark which you haven't released yet. Anyway, anyone know if the film has popped up on the net yet, subbed or unsubbed? It was shown at Toronto FF so presumably a translation has been done. I have hope. Respond if you've got any leads.

Problem is, it's just Madhouse trying to scrounge some more success off of their fukamoto run. I've never read One Outs, but I wasn't terribly impressed by other manga by the same guy.

Liar Game, for example, was a blatant "I really liked Kaiji" manga, but was honestly uninteresting and the characters had no appeal. Unlike the live action adaptation, which was totally fucking awesome.

Madhouse will probably stick close to the manga though, and not fix its doubtless many flaws.

Well shit, didn't know it was the same guy that wrote Liar Game. I saw the live-action drama and it was hilariously cheesy.
