Question

Answer

What formats are your releases in?

All our past releases are encoded in XviD with CBR MP3 audio.

For Makoto Shinkai projects (Beyond The Clouds, 5cm Per Second) we use x264 and AC3.

Starting with Nanoha StrikerS Kaiji, all our future series releases will be in the H.264 format because of the size and quality benefits.

What codecs should I use to watch your releases?

For XviD, you have a few choices:

a) Nic or Koepi's XviD binaries
b) MPlayer
c) CCCP

Either of the three will work for most of our releases.

For H.264 you can use the following combinations:

a) ffdshow and a media player of your choice (Most successful, but eats CPU)
b) CoreAVC, AC3Filter and a media player of your choice (Fastest decoder, low CPU usage)
c) VideoLAN player VLC is BROKEN STAY AWAY
d) CCCP

The video won't open. What do I do?
I can't play the video. What do I do?

First, don't be like this guy.

Then, check your codecs to make sure you have one of the suggested ones in the question above installed. If the video still won't play, then try checking the integrity of the file by downloading our OFFICIAL scarywater torrent file and opening the file in question inside uTorrent or Azureus.

For those of you who are having problems with our H264 releases:
If you are having trouble using CCCP, try updating or reinstalling the codec pack. If you are using CoreAVC, try replacing it with ffdshow. If you are using the codec provided with Nero, we can't help you.

My video is all blocky and shit. You should make a v2 because you suck and I'm on a superior computing platform called a Mac.

Why don't you just learn to update your codecs? Oh right, because you'd rather whine about it.
