I tried to watch Akagi but after fiften minutes the characters' outrageous noses had gone straight from my eyes into my brain and were causing it to bleed internally. Maybe it would have been better if I understood the point of Mahjong... I'll have to learn to play it some day.

watched this also just now, the start was bit worrying me but towards end it was reminding more of akagi, without the too serious mood around it yet. and about the noses, my self i dont mind them. infact, the animation style in this and akagi is rather interesting.

2) doesn't the part near the end that reads "you are given four of each kind, so you may only play each hand once" actually refer to the cards and not hands? As in, they can use each gesture as many times as they have corresponding cards left and lose a card each time they use a gesture (going by the manga here)?

They can play each hand once. Each card has a hand drawn on it. Not a hand of cards.

While avi>mkv, I'll take mkv if there's no other choice (other fansub being not an 'other choice' as quality is what matters the most to me).

I find irony in the statement No.3011 posted up above me here. How quality is what matters most, yet he prefers avi to mkv. An MKV in h264 of the same file size of an AVI in Xvid will have far better quality as long as the encoder doesn't suck.

I used to have sympathy for the people with crappy computers, but with as cheap as components are these days, that's becoming less and less of an excuse.

Sadly, the one reason Kaiji can't possibly be as supremely awesome as Akagi, is there's no one-syllable word that so beautifully captures the essence of "I just pwned you, and banged your wife, mom, and sister at the same time" like RON.

Also, I too found great irony in 3011's post. Fuck you, AVI was never superior to MKV.
